a common thread

I don't exactly know what it is about having something tangible to connect you to those family members that have gone before you but there certainly is something to it. Maybe it's the miracle that that thing- whatever it is- has survived, held up for that long. Maybe it's a way to hold those we love close even when we can't be with them physically. It's a place holder perhaps, a common thread.

Here, Nora Kate, age 5, wears her grandmother's dress that her GREAT grandmother made by hand.

It's a thread running through the generations- love and belonging worn, making it to one more generation. So special.
